Dunkerton boys beat Jesup 63-58 for trip to state

INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -

The Dunkerton boys basketball team held off a late charge from Jesup to earn its first trip to state in 10 years, 63-58.

The Raiders got a game high 23 points from center Kory Kuenstling and they led 45-31 at the end of three quarters.

But Jesup led by Kyle Schultz's 22 points rallied to cut the Dunkerton lead to 55-54 with 1:09 left in the fourth quarter.

Dunkerton scored eight free throws in the final minute to hang on for the win.

The Raiders play East Mills at 2 p.m. on Monday in the first round of the 1A State Tournament.
