Posted: Updated:
The state Senate passed a bill that would make it illegal for landowners to let people under the age of 21 to drink on their property.
The bill passed unanimously that would make the offense a simple misdemeanor for the initial violation; the offense would also carry a $200 dollar fine. Secondary offenders would see a $500 fine.
Under the bill, juveniles are held responsible as well. Those ages 18, 19 and 20 would face a simple misdemeanor and face a $200 dollar fine for drinking alcohol; they could also lose their driver’s license.
The bill now moves to the house.
