Hazleton city officials hopeful water main will be fixed soon

Posted: Updated:

City officials in Hazleton are hopeful a $4,000 project will fix a frozen water main.

KWWL reported on Friday that crews had begun digging to reach the frozen water main which had shut off water to some homes since Valentine's Day.

On Saturday, city officials said the project is working according to plan.

Officials said they hoped to open the water main sometime Saturday, however, Hazleton's Public Works Director Mike Loomis said it would likely be Monday or Tuesday before water was restored to homes along South Madison Street because water bacteria samples need to be taken to the DNR.
