DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The Iowa Utilities Board has given preliminary approval to a plan proposed by MidAmerican Energy to raise its monthly rate.
The plan submitted by MidAmerican would gradually raise customer’s rates over the next 3 years.
Customers who saw the increase of $2.73 a month in Phase I would see a monthly increase of $2.75 in 2015, and $2.68 a month on top of that in 2016.
This would be a total increase of $8.16 a month during the three year process.
The Iowa Utilities Board is expected to give final approval to that plan on March 17.
