Athlete of the Week: Hudson's Casey Miles

Posted: Updated:
HUDSON (KWWL) -

Basketball is a family affair for Hudson senior Casey Miles --

Her father Steve currently coaches the Pirates boys team -- while younger sister Corey is one of her teammates.

But to Casey -- this entire Hudson squad is one big family.

And the bond of this team has shown through-out the year.  Hudson is having a season of the ages falling in just a single game --

on Monday night in Parkersburg it got even better -- behind 17 points from Miles -- the Pirates defeated North Butler to advance to the school's first state tournament since 2003.

For Casey -- Monday's win was the culmination of years of hard work starting in the family driveway --

She worked her way in to Hudson's starting line-up as a freshman and led the team in scoring 3 straight years.

This year she's averaging just under 17 points a game while dishing out a team-high 61 assists this season.

And now with a spot clinched in Des Moines -- Casey hopes her basketball family can make a run towards the top.
