DES MOINES (KWWL) -

The state Senate voted unanimously on a bill that would result in tougher human trafficking laws.

The measure moved through 48-0 on Thursday; the bill now returns to the House which passed similar legislation earlier in the week.

The bill includes tougher penalties in the sexual exploitation of minors; it also includes establishing a fund for programs that offer support and services to victims of human trafficking.

The measure was sponsored by Democratic Senator Robert Dvorsky; he says he would like to see stronger laws against human trafficking in the state.
