City of Waverly offers credits on utility bills

Posted: Updated:
WAVERLY (KWWL) - City officials in Waverly say they'll provide financial assistance to residents who are facing an increase in their utility bills after running water to help prevent their pipes from freezing.

According to a press release, if a resident's utility bill more than doubles the prior year's usage during the months of January, February and/or March, the City will credit the resident's account for the usage that exceeds twice the amount from the prior year.

City officials are still urging residents to keep a stream of water running, about 1/4 inch wide, to help prevent their water service line from freezing because of the deep frost levels.

Waverly residents are asked to check their monthly utility bills, and if their water usage is more than doubled from last year, they can call the City of Waverly's Accounting Department at (319) 352-4252 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

According to city officials, a credit will be issued if warranted.
