Arizona governor vetoes controversial bill

On Wednesday evening, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer announced she vetoed a controversial bill that would have allowed state business owners to deny service to gays and lesbians based on religious beliefs.

The governor says the bill could have resulted in "negative consequences". Opponents of the measure are voicing their support for her decision tonight.
Meanwhile, supporters of the measure say it would have served as a safeguard for religious freedom.
