Janesville Girls beat Midland for first trip to State Basketball Tournament

INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -

In class 1A, second ranked Janesville looking for its first trip to state--battles 14th ranked Midland.

It's a back and forth battle.

The Eagles Alaina Martensen with a three to give Midland a 5 point second quarter lead.

Janesville fights back--Kendyl Sorge a basket and one-- Wildcats rally to go up 21-19 at the break.

3rd quarter Midland takes control--great ball movement inside to Brianna Shurbon-- Midland leads by 6 late in the third.

But with zero-point six seconds left in the 3rd-- Kendyl Sorge with a clutch 3 to get Janesville within 3.

The fourth quarter went down to the wire, Brianna Shurbon hits 2 to give Midland a 39-38 lead with 10 point 5 seconds to play.

Janesville has to go the length of the floor-- and Brittany Hanson-- the lefty hook off the glass.. and Janesville hangs on for a thrilling 40-39 victory.  The Wildcats meet Rockford next Monday at 1:30 pm in the first round of the 1A State Tournament.
