CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -
An $85 million manufacturer based in the Netherlands has announced it will open its first facility in North America in Cedar Falls.
The announcement came at a press conference on Tuesday from officials with Zuidberg Frontline Systems B.V., the City of Cedar Falls, Greater Cedar Valley Alliance and Chamber, and the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
President of Zuidberg North America Rudolf de Jong said company officials had considered Des Moines and Pella but ultimately decided on a 10,000 square foot facility in the Cedar Falls Industrial Park.
"Not only me, but everybody in the company is excited about it. We really look forward to make it a big success, and I think we have all the support to do that," said de Jong.
He said six people will be hired at the company's first U.S. facility which plans to open its doors by July 1st, 2014.
Since 1982, Zuidberg products have been used by farmers across the world. The company is known for hitches, transmissions and rubber track systems.
