WATERLOO (KWWL) - One person was injured Tuesday morning when a minivan and train collided in Waterloo.

Officers were called to the railroad tracks near the intersection of Ansborough Avenue and Maynard Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a collision between a train and minivan.

Officials say railroad employees were directing a train that was backing up at the intersection, and the driver of the van thought they were being directed to go across the tracks.

The train was reportedly moving at less than 8 miles per hour.

One person was injured and taken to Allen Hospital.

No other details have been released.
