Salesmen favor car shopping in snowstorms

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

It was a busy day at Rydell Chevrolet in Waterloo on Saturday, not because people were buying cars, but because salesmen were busy scooping out of another winter storm.

"We're so used to winter now though, and we want it to be over," said General Sales Manager Jeff Smock.

Smock, who said salesmen sold three cars during Saturday's snowstorm, told KWWL the process of clearing out the entire lot is usually about six hours.

"We do get tired of it like everybody is tired of winter, but it's part of our job," he said.

Meanwhile, at Witham Auto Center in Waterloo, salesmen eagerly waited for customers because they said the winter weather is perfect for test driving.

"It's a great time to test drive the vehicle in conditions like this as crazy as it sounds," said Sales Manager Meho Huseinovic.

Huseinovic said customers can quickly tell how a car starts in cold weather and how it drives in snow on days like Saturday.

"This is the perfect time to test drive a car," he said.
