A major water main break is affecting water service city-wide in Evansdale. City officials say water service will be shut off beginning at 9 a.m. for everyone in the city. During that time, crews will attempt to repair the break. After that time, the city will be under a boil advisory until tests reveal the water is safe to consume. City officials say people should boil all water for at least 2 minutes that will be consumed (drinking, cooking, brushing teeth). They say water used for bathing, showers, laundry, etc. is safe to use without boiling. They ask any residents with questions to call Evansdale Water Works after 8 a.m. Tuesday at 319-233-5524.
