Cedar Rapids library director leaving for Colorado

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The man credited with helping rebuild the Cedar Rapids Public Library beyond what anyone imagined is leaving for Colorado.

Bob Pasicznyuk became the Library Director for the Cedar Rapids Public Library in July 2009, just a year after the flood of 2008 destroyed the downtown library branch.

After four and a half years, the city has two new top notch locations -- the Ladd Library on the west side, and the brand-new downtown branch.

“Bob’s leadership and vision have allowed us to go beyond what anyone in this community expected of their library,” Susan McDermott, president of the Library Board of Trustees, said in a written statement. “We are grateful for his commitment to the library and, while we are sad to see him go, we are confident we will continue to move forward with the help of our wonderful staff and the support of our community.”

Pasicznyuk will become the Executive Director of Douglas County Libraries in Douglas County, Colo. He starts his new position May 5.

The Library Board will begin a national search immediately for his replacement.
