Waterloo musician and Rock N' Roll Hall of Famer dies

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A well-known Waterloo musician who was given the state's highest honor for musicians has died this week.

Marvin Spencer Sr. died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He was 75.

Marvin was a well-known musician originally from Marshalltown. He was inducted into the Iowa Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his daughter Tracie Spencer, who won Star Search with Ed McMahon in 1987 and went on to become a Top 40 recording artist.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Garaup Funeral Service.
