Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Officials with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation say they found a missing girl at a home in Iowa City just before 3 p.m. Wednesday during an investigation that led to an elementary school being locked down.

While the DCI and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office were serving a search warrant at a home on Spruce Ct. in Iowa City, a person ran from the home, which is located near Mark Twain Elementary School.

The school was placed on lockdown.

Officials say they found a missing girl inside the home.

It is unclear if she was kidnapped or if she was a runaway. The DCI is investigating why she was at the home.

The person who ran from the home is considered a person of interest. He is described as being a black male and still has not been located.
