GRUNDY COUNTY (KWWL) - Two people were taken to local hospitals after three vehicles collided Wednesday morning on Highway 14 and 170th Street in Grundy County.

Arden Payne, 66, of Hudson, was transported to Grundy County Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. Dewayne Williams, 52, of Rock Falls, Ill., was transported to the University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with unspecified injuries.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, Payne was driving a Kenworth semi truck pulling a loaded grain trailer northbound on Hwy. 14 at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday when he allegedly rear-ended a Toyota Corolla driven by Bryce Ehlers, 17, of Reinbeck.

Ehlers was northbound on Hwy. 14 when he stopped to make a left turn onto 170th Street, according to officials.

After rear-ending Ehlers' vehicle, sending it into the west ditch, Payne's vehicle then crossed the center line and struck Williams, who was driving a Freightliner semi truck pulling an empty grain trailer in the southbound lane, according to officials.

All three vehicles were totaled, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.

The Iowa State Patrol, Grundy Center Ambulance and Grundy Center Fire assisted at the scene.
