Amanda Goodman testifies on bullying at Iowa Senate

Posted: Updated:
DES MOINES (KWWL) - No child should ever be afraid to go to school. That's why state lawmakers are re-visiting the 2007 anti-bullying law.

Because of her anti-bullying efforts, KWWL's Amanda Goodman was invited Monday to speak before the Senate Education Committee in Des Moines.

Amanda told the Committee that she averages two dozen emails a day from concerned parents and scared students. She also shared several stories from victims, including one of an 11-year-old girl who eats her lunch in a bathroom stall.

The young girl is tormented, taunted and teased relentlessly by her peers in the cafeteria.

The state Department of Education and Safe Schools Iowa were also there. They said 50 percent of kids report being bullied.
