DEWAR (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man was injured Sunday night after his snowmobile collided with a wood pile.

Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies say 50-year-old Jerry Morehouse was riding in his snowmobile in the area of 1811 N. Raymond Road in Dewar at around 9:55 p.m. Sunday when he hit a wood pile and was thrown into a chain link fence.

Deputies say Morehouse drove himself to 5005 Conard Road, but then discovered his injuries were more serious than he originally thought.

He was taken to Allen Hospital before being airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The accident remains under investigation.
