UNI grapplers take down ISU for the first time in 10 years

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The 5th ranked UNI wrestling team won 6 of 10 matches and got big bonus points as they took down #17 Iowa State 24-13.  It was the Panthers' first dual meet over the Cyclones since 2004.

UNI's lone pin came at 141 pounds.  Fourteenth ranked Joey Lazor took out ISU's Gabe Moreno 2 minutes in to the match.  The Panthers also got a tech fall from top ranked Joe Colon at 133, while #6 Dylan Peters tallied a major decision at 125.

Iowa State's lone major decision came from former Waterloo East stand-out, second ranked Kyven Gadson at 197 pounds.

    Tony Moeaki's injury troubles returned again this weekend. The former Hawkeye injured a hamstring during a workout at Buffalo Bills camp on Friday afternoon. Coaches expect him to return to action before training camp concludes.Moeaki's NFL career has been riddled with injuries. As a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, he missed the entire 2011 season after suffering an ACL tear. The Chiefs waived him after he fractured a shoulder during the 2013 season.More >>
