Black Hawks tie USHL record, win 16th straight

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Drew Melanson and Liam Pecararo each scored twice as the Waterloo Black Hawks routed Tri-City 6-1 in Young Arena.  The Black Hawks' 16th consecutive win tied a USHL all-time record.

Melanson opened the scoring with driving home a feed from Tyler Sheehy for the only first period tally.  Pecararo, Zach Sanford, and Austin Vieth broke the game open, each scoring in the second as Waterloo entered the third period up 4-0.

Pecararo scored his second just 18 seconds in to the final period, while Melanson drove home a rebound for his final tally 8 minutes in.

Cameron Johnson stopped 25 of 26 for the Black Hawks.

Waterloo will go after a record break 17th straight win on Saturday night in Dubuque.
