City crews tackle another round of snow

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa City crews wasted no time pre-treating the roads on Tuesday.

Iowa City's Public Works director, Rick Fosse said there were about 12 crews on the roads making sure city streets were as clear as possible for drivers.

Workers were also clearing areas from the last winter system to ensure there were no previous hazards on the roads, once Tuesday’s system moved in.

“It's important that people allow extra time and be cautious,” said Fosse. “It is late in the season and everybody's running low on salt, so we're going to be prudent with our application of that.”

Iowa Department of Transportation had hundreds of snow plows on the interstates across the state.

Iowa City crews wrapped up their efforts into the overnight hours.

They plan to start back up early Wednesday morning.
