Water main break closes school in Tripoli

Posted: Updated:
TRIPOLI (KWWL) - Many people in Tripoli were without water for most of the day on Tuesday.

City officials blame a water main break along Main Street near the water tower for shutting off water to about one-third of the town.

Classes were canceled at school in Tripoli because of the water main break.

Bremer County Emergency Management Coordinator Kip Ladage said city workers fixed the break at around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Ladage said people who live south of 7th Avenue in Tripoli should boil city water before drinking it. He also said the drinking water advisory for those residents could last a few days.
