Police investigating man's death on Cedar Rapids street Tuesday

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids Police have now released the name of a man who died after he was found lying in the street.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of B Avenue NE at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after someone found Clifton Diapolis Sparks, 31, of Cedar Rapids, lying in the street.

Officers say Sparks was unresponsive when they arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Sparks suffered a traumatic injury and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

The case remains under investigation as a homicide.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy, officials said.

Police don't believe the public is in danger.
