IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man they say robbed someone near the University of Iowa campus Monday morning.
Iowa City Police say they received a report of a strong-arm robbery at around 9:45 a.m. Monday at the north entrance of Old Capitol Mall in Iowa City.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing a winter hat, dark coat, khaki pants and dark shoes. The man was last seen walking east on Washington Avenue.
Because the robbery happened close to the University of Iowa's campus, police issued a Hawk Alert notification to students, faculty and staff of the college. The Hawk Alert system is used to notify the campus community of threats to physical safety in emergency situations.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Iowa City Police at 319-356-5276.
