WATERLOO (KWWL) -
Between Super Bowl Sunday and the winter warning, Friday was a hectic day for local grocery stores.
Checkers were busy at the Waterloo Hy-Vee on University Avenue around 5 p.m. Store manager Chad Launderville said they usually see more business before the Super Bowl, but weather compounded the issue.
"Yeah, we actually have added staff on for today just because of the weather," Launderville said. "Of course, we're already prepared for the big football weekend, so we have a lot of extra staff involved here in the store to make sure the shopping experience is a pleasant one for our customers."
He said they will stay busy throughout the weekend.
