Grant Co. hit-and-run leaves one driver pinned

Posted: Updated:
GRANT COUNTY, Wis. (KWWL) -

The Grant County (Wisconsin) Sheriff's Office is searching for a hit-and-run driver they say caused a Platteville, Wis., man to become pinned between two vehicles during Sunday's winter storm.

Deputies say 41-year-old Laurie Splinter was headed south on Highway 80 near Louisburg Road when she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Brandon Monahan.

Deputies say Splinter's vehicle slowed down due to poor visibility.

Officials say while Monahan was assessing the damage to the vehicles, a third vehicle rear-ended Monahan's vehicle, pinning Monahan between his vehicle and Splinter's vehicle.

The driver of that third vehicle allegedly drove away while yelling obscenities at Monahan to get out of the road.

Monahan was eventually freed and taken to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque with very severe leg injuries.

Witnesses describe the third vehicle as a dark-colored SUV.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Grant County Sheriff's Office or Grant County Crime Stoppers.
