CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A Cedar Rapids high school student has earned the highest-possible score on the ACT.

Anjali Misra, a senior at Cedar Rapids Washington High School, earned a top composite score of 36 on the ACT.

Misra is active in orchestra and mock trial at Washington as well as a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital, according to Marcia Hughes with the Cedar Rapids Community School District.

The ACT, which consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, is scored on a scale of 1-36. A student's composite score is an average of all four tests.

Less than 1/10th of 1 percent of all students taking the ACT receive a 36, averaging out to be 1,162 of 1.8 million students.

The ACT is used primarily on college applications to indicate college readiness.
