Buss' career high propels UNI past Missouri State

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Nathan Buss scored 26 as the UNI Panthers scorched the nets to take down Missouri State 94-89 on Saturday afternoon.

Buss, making his first career start, scored a career high and hit 10 of 13 shots, including 5 of 6 from beyond the 3 point arc.  Seth Tuttle added 21 points on 7 of 8 shooting.  As a team, UNI shot 67% from the floor, including a 61% mark from the 3-point line.

That outpaced the Bears who also had a big afternoon from the floor shooting 59%.  Ron Mvouika led the way for Missouri State with 28 points.

The win moved UNI to 7-0 on the season when playing at home.

    The University of Northern Iowa is represented by seven members on the 2017 Missouri Valley Football Conference's preseason squad as announced by the league office on Monday. Senior defensive back Malcolm Washington (Houston, Texas) and senior linebacker Jared Farley (Cedar Falls, Iowa) were each named to the first team heading into the 2017 season.

    Tom Jenk Jr. gave the Beckman baseball team a bit of a boost. The longtime Blazers' coach, who hasn't been in the dugout this season due to a battle with a brain tumor, paid a visit to his team the day before Beckman topped Denver 7-1 to open the class 2A state baseball tournament.
