Truck falls through the ice on Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE (KWWL) -

A pick up truck broke through the ice on Clear Lake Friday afternoon.

The Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources says Christopher Cash was driving a truck pulling an ice shake when it broke through the ice near Dodge's Point.

Both Cash and his passenger, Branden Schare, were able to get out of the truck before it sunk.

The truck is expected to be taken out of the lake early next week.

Ben Bergman, a conservation officer for the DNR, says with the high winds and open water from the aerators, ice conditions can be unpredictable.

He also says people driving on the ice need to pay attention to wind speed and direction because ic conditions can change drastically in a 24 hour period.
