DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The City of Dubuque says a plugged pipe lead to untreated wastewater flowing into the street in the 4800 block of Chavenelle Road on Wednesday.

The public works department says they were notified at around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday about the possible overflow from a manhole.

Crews arrived, cleared the blockage and had the roadway cleaned up by 11:30 p.m.

Crews continue to investigate the cause of the blockage.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recommends that children and pets be kept away from the posted area for 48 hours.
