WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo police continue to investigate the assault of an East High employee.

Officers were called to 214 High Street just after 5 p.m. on January 8 for a reported assault.

Captain Tim Pillack says a Waterloo East High School employee was walking to his car when a vehicle pulled up, the men inside got out and one of them assaulted the employee.

The employee suffered minor injuries and the report says the employee did not know his attacker.

The Waterloo Community School District say they are working with police to identify the vehicle and the suspect. They also say the Waterloo Police Department has given them no reason to believe that this was any more than a random act of violence.

The district says they will support prosecuting the perpetrator or perpetrators of this crime to the fullest extent of the law because of their zero tolerance for violence on or near their campuses.
