Dubuque man heading to prison following meth lab fire

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A Dubuque man will spend 19-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to making methamphetamine with 1,000 feet of a school.

Cory Cole, 47, pleaded guilty on October 9, 2013 and was sentenced on Monday.

At his plea hearing and his sentencing, Cole admitted to trying to make meth on May 30, 2013 at his home in Dubuque, which is within 1,000 feet of Fulton Elementary School.

A fire broke out while Cole was trying to make the drug.

Cole will spend six years on supervised release after his prison term.
