WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Washington girls pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season, beating No. 3 Waterloo West 81-68 Tuesday night in Waterloo.

It's just the Wahawks second loss in 12 games. Washington improves to 8-3.

West -- playing without Haley Puk, who is out with a hand injury -- got a game-high 27 points from Kate Letkewicz, while Blair Thomas scored 23 and Sammie Sproul added 15.

But Cedar Rapids Washington grabbed control late in the first quarter and were never really threatened.

The Warriors led 65-43 at the end of the third quarter before the Wahawks closed the gap in the fourth.

Wash was led by Danielle Franklin with 25 points, and Aleena Hobbs with 18.
