Three times this season, the Iowa Hawkeyes had been close to picking up a signature win, but were unable to finish. On Sunday, they sealed the deal hitting shots down the stretch to defeat #3 Ohio State 84-74 in Columbus.
Roy Devyn Marble led the way with 22 points in the win. Melsahn Besabe added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. That included an acrobatic tip-in in the final minutes to help put the game away.
The #20 Hawkeyes appeared to be headed for another defeat against a ranked opponent, trailing Ohio State (15-2, 2-2 Big Ten) by as much as 9 in the second half. Iowa (14-3, 3-1 Big Ten), however, outscored the Buckeyes 29-14 over the final 9 minutes to pick up their first win over a top 5 team since 2001.
