Cyclones suffer 1st loss at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. (KWWL) -

Melvin Ejim scored 21, but it wasn't enough as Iowa State suffered their first loss of the season, falling 87-82 at Oklahoma.

The Sooners got big days from Buddy Hield with 22 points and Ryan Spangler as he scored 16 and hit the boards for a career high 15 rebounds.

Iowa State looked like they might pull it out late as they erased a 13 point second half deficit and took a 77-76 lead after an Ejim 3-pointer.  Oklahoma, however, dominated in the final couple minutes.

Even more concerning for Iowa State was a late injury to DeAndre Kane.  Kane turned an ankle in the final minute.  It's being called a less serious lateral sprain, but his status for Monday's game against #18 Kansas is uncertain.
