FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) - Four Postville residents were killed and two Elgin residents injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Fayette County.

Shariff Hussein Warsame, 28, of Postville, was westbound on Highway 18 northeast of Clermont at around 8:46 a.m. when he lost control of his Toyota van, crossed the highway and struck an eastbound Chevy truck pulling a loaded bale trailer, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Warsame, as well as three passengers -- Miski Yahye Mohamed, 24, Khadijo Mohamed, 53, and Maryan Kulane, 25, all of Postville -- were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy truck, Tony Alan Schlee, 57, as well as his passenger, Pamela Ann Schlee, 58, both of Elgin, were extricated from their vehicle and taken by ambulance to Palmer Luther Hospital, according to officials.

Both Schlees were listed in serious condition, according to officials.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by Clermont Fire and Ambulance, Postville Ambulance, Tri-State Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
