UPDATE: Escapee Austin Runnells found in Minn. Sunday


The Iowa Department of Corrections says an inmate who escaped from a work-release facility in Fort Dodge has been apprehended in Minnesota.

Department spokesman Fred Scaletta says 21-year-old Austin Dean Runnells was taken into custody Sunday in Jackson County in southern Minnesota. Additional information was not released.

The department says Runnells failed to return Friday to the facility from a job-seeking furlough.

Runnells is serving a 10-year sentence for a willful injury causing bodily injury conviction in Webster County. He began serving his sentence in June 2012. He was transferred to the work-release facility in November.

The Iowa Department of Corrections is looking for a man who didn't return from work release.

The department said 21-year-old Austin Runnells was placed on escape status when he didn't return on Friday, January 3rd.

Runnells was transferred to work release on November 8, 2013. His 10-year sentence for willful injury began on June 20, 2012.

Information as to Runnells' whereabouts should be reported to the Fort Dodge Police Department or Webster County Sheriff's Department.
