Welcoming eastern Iowa's New Year's babies

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Eastern Iowa's first baby born in the New Year came into the world just 15 minutes after the clock struck midnight.

His mother, Holly Hessling, welcomed the 5-pound, 10-ounce baby boy into the world at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. As of New Year's Day, the baby hadn't yet received a name.

Celia Villegas gave birth to twins at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Aleena and Alleeah Villegas were born at 12:22 a.m. in Iowa City. The twins weighed just over 5 pounds each.

At Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Jerilyn Foland gave birth to Nathan. He was born at 4:58 a.m.  weighing in at 7 pounds and 14.8 ounces.
