Family delivers best Christmas gift ever

Posted: Updated:

It was the best Christmas gift a Cedar Rapids family could ask for.

Samantha and Luke Peters welcomed their new addition, McKenna Vera Peters into the world late Christmas night at 11:17 p.m.

Little McKenna  was the only baby born on Christmas day at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

"It's a whole other meaning to have a baby on Christmas," said Samantha Peters. "Happiness and the whole family aspect definitely.

Samantha says she was a bit uneasy and nervous about being in the delivery room on Christmas day, instead of being next to the Christmas tree.

However, she says she wouldn't trade it for the world.

Little McKenna weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces.  Mom and dad say it's a gift they didn't' even have to unwrap.

"A very long day, and we were so happy when she showed up, I mean she's a beautiful little girl," said Luke Peters

The peters say their other 2-year-old and 5-year-old girls, couldn't stop kissing and hugging their new baby sister, McKenna.

The Mercy Hospital staff dressed little McKenna in a Christmas stocking, just perfect for the Christmas delivery.
