BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) - A Buchanan County man lost his home to a fire on Christmas night.

Fire crews were called to the fire on Cedar Wapsi Road around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters from Dunkerton, Fairbank and Jesup worked to contain the fire, but the fire was already so far along when they arrived that crews could not save the house.

No one was injured.

"When we pulled up we received word that everybody was out, there was nobody inside... so we immediately started fighting the fire from the outside," said said Fairbank Fire Dept. Assistant Chief Jason Kayser. "It was too dangerous (of) a situation to go inside."

The cause is still not clear at this time.
