CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

An eastern Iowa church spread some holiday cheer Christmas day

St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids served its annual free Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

It's a tradition serving those in need every year during the holiday season since the late 1980's.

Jim Milden, one of the organizers, says a meal is not the only thing people will get.

"The dinner was conceived to serve those in need and those in need of fellowship for today," said Milden. "So we serve both dinner here and we also do take home meals

Those take-home meals are for people who can't make it to church.

St. Mark's United Methodist Church, also in Cedar Rapids collaborated with St. Paul.

Combined, the churches will feed close to 500 people.
