WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Salvation Army hosted a Christmas luncheon Wednesday morning  in Waterloo.

Organizers said they expected about 150 people to show up and enjoy the meal of chicken, ham, mashed potatoes and a variety of desserts. Volunteers said it is important to have these kinds of events make everyone feel at home for the holidays.

"It's very important to do these types of things because there are a lot of people in the Cedar Valley that don't have homes, don't have nothing to eat and we just want to make sure that we have a place were they can come and feel at home," said Chevelle Richardson, a volunteer chef for the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army said that Wednesday's luncheon was a big success and they invite everyone to attend next year.
