HONOLULU (KWWL) -

Georges Niang scored 15 of his team high 22 in the second half as Iowa State cruised past Akron 83-60 to match the best start in school history at 10-0.

It was a game of runs for the Cyclones as they put together a 17-3 string in the first half to erase an 8 point Zips lead.  Akron then cut the lead to one in the second half at 42-41.  Iowa State, however, responded by outscoring the Zips 41-19 to finish out the game.

Melvin Ejim and Deandre Kane each notched double-doubles in the victory.  Ejim scored 21 and grabbed 12 boards, while Kane tallied 15 and 11.

Iowa State will meet the winner of Boise State/South Carolina in the Diamond Head Classic final on Christmas in Honolulu.
