DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Sunday, Dubuque saw about six inches of snowfall. As the snow fell, many took it as a time to spread holiday cheer with friends and neighbors. Paul Freisinger said he began shoveling his driveway after church Sunday morning. He then approached a neighbor and asked if he could help her remove snow from her driveway.

"You just do what you need to do to get it done," Freisinger said Sunday. "We try to help each other out especially this time of year, a couple of days before Christmas."

Freisinger said he had never met his neighbor before and was happy to help out with shoveling. Across town in Dubuque, a father and son duo took to the streets with a shovel in hand.

Alex Mihalakis and his 6 year-old-son Jace helped clear snow off of sidewalks, cars and driveways for individuals who are unable to shovel for themselves.

Mihalakis said it was an idea the two thought about at home. He says it's a way to spread holiday cheer.

"We can't buy anybody anything so we decided to help them out with this snowfall." Mihalakis said.

The two said they aimed to help clear snow at five homes in Dubuque Sunday afternoon.
