Grand View wins NAIA National Championship

Posted: Updated:
ROME, Ga. (KWWL) -

Quarterback Derek Fulton threw for 4 touchdowns as Grand View won their first NAIA championship defeating top ranked University of the Cumberlands 35-23.

The victory is especially significant considering not long ago the Vikings didn't even have a program.  Waterloo native Mike Woodley took over the effort in 2006, and Grand View played the first game in school history in 2008.

"I'm proud of our football team," said  Woodley. "This group of kids is one of the finest (I've coached). Tonight's victory is the biggest victory for me coaching. You run the table and go 14-0, you're a pretty good football team. This NAIA football is good football. People who haven't watched enough of it need to watch it. It's good football."
