Top ranked Penn State wrestlers drop Iowa 24-12

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Top ranked Penn State dominated the upper weights as the Nittany Lions defeated #3 Iowa 24-12 on Saturday.  The win was just the second for the Nittany Lions in the past 7 tries.

The highlight for the Hawkeyes came at 133 when Tony Ramos caught Jimmy Gulibon off guard, putting him on his back for a 3rd period pin.  Iowa also got wins from Derek St. John at 157 and from Bobby Tolford at heavyweight.

Penn State, however, finished with wins at 4 of the final 5 weights to take control.

    Nobody won the annual Cy-Hawk softball game on Wednesday. Darkness forced an end to the contest with the Hawkeyes and Cyclones tied at 6 apiece.
