IOWA CITY (AP) -

An inmate serving a sentence for robbery has died at an Iowa City hospital.

The state Department of Corrections says 55-year-old Steven Bryan Hancock died Thursday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Officials say Hancock died of natural causes due to complications from liver cancer.

Hancock was serving a 20-year-sentence from Polk County for first-degree robbery that began in May 2002.

Hancock had been assigned to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville.
