Waterloo Schools names Jane Lindaman superintendent

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Waterloo Schools have appointed a new superintendent just two weeks after the current superintendent announced he would retire.

Jane Lindaman, currently the associate superintendent of educational services with Waterloo Schools, was appointed by the school board Friday.

Her contract will begin July 1.

Lindaman has been an administrator with the district since 2005, according to a press release Friday afternoon.

She will replace Gary Norris, who announced earlier this month he would retire at the end of June.

Lindaman, who grew up in Ackley, completed her bachelor's, master's and doctorate in education degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and taught in Kansas and Iowa before becoming a principal at Union Middle School in Dysart.

In 2005, she joined Waterloo Schools as principal at Bunger Middle School. In 2006, she became the Director of Learning and Results and Middle School Education for the district.

"I'm excited to serve the district in this new capacity," Lindaman said. "I'm committed to high achievement and to meeting the needs of all students."

"Waterloo Schools is about options and meeting students where they are and helping them be successful," she added. "We have great things started, and those will continue."
