Former Linn Co. supervisor James Houser to run again

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Former Linn County Supervisor James Houser says he will seek the supervisor seat being vacated by Lu Barron.

Houser, 59, served as District 5 Supervisor from 1990 until 2010 after being appointed to fill a vacancy and then being re-elected four times.

He was defeated by current District 5 Supervisor John Harris in 2010.

The reapportionment in 2011 moved Houser's residence of 20 years from District 5 to District 1.

Lu Barron announced earlier this month that she would not seek re-election, a decision she said was made easier by the birth of her first grandchild in New Zealand.
